Africa, often known to be the cradle of civilization with its renowned vibrant and diverse cultures; unique traditions and customs. It is a continent full of rich heritage passed down through generations.
The traditional attire is full of self-expression and hold the rich history of the African people. The colourful fabrics, patterns and distinct designs of each country holds a significant meaning to the heart of the wearers.
We wear the garments not only with such pride and confidence; showcasing the diverse array of styles and fabrics. As we continue to raise the interest of the African culture globally.
There are platforms such as African Fashion week and Arise Fashion week which provides the opportunity for African designers to showcase their designs. Furthermore, allowing for a deeper understanding and appreciation of the culture as a whole.
As many people around the world continue to wear and represent African countries and share the centuries of history, tradition and resilience, Africa grows more in stature (and we instil in ourselves self-belief and expression).
We continue to embrace and celebrate the African culture in many ways; through clothes such as Habesha Kemis (Ethiopia). Music genres such as Coupé-décalé, Amapiano and Afrobeat, African proverbs, and more. Not only do we honour the past, but also contribute to the preservation and growth of this rich and vibrant heritage.
